Rundle Mall AW14 parade

Last Friday, my friend Amanda and I attended one of the free Rundle Mall AW14 fashion parades, which featured clothing from David Jones, Veronika Maine, Seduce, Peter Jackson, and shoes from Wittner and Betts

The stand-out for me were outfits from Veronika Maine. I have never shopped there or considered it to be my style just from looking in their shop window, but I was really impressed with the mix of roll-neck, sleeveless knits; fuller, below the knee skirts; and classic winter coats.

Afterwards, we were treated to an after party, featuring wines and cider by Sidewood (Adelaide Hills) and delicious canapés. We also scored a goodie bag each, filled with vouchers, samples and lovely gifts.

Though I am a Summer girl at heart, I love Winter fashion and am keen to stock up on some of those cosy knits, tailored pants and long coats.

Shoes by Betts - Dunaden and Cooper.

Loved this outfit paired with flats.

Totally sold on this grey coat. Loved the shoes too.

Anyone is welcome to buy me this jumpsuit...

...and the gold bolero jacket...

At the after-party with Amanda, drinking Sidewood Estate Isabella Rose sparkling - delicious!

Goodies!

Miss Shop Blogger Project

I love these fun images from the Miss Shop Blogger Project collaboration with Pedestrian.tv and 15 bloggers, including Nicole Warne of Gary Pepper Vintage, Mandy Shadforth of Oracle Fox and Rumi Neely of Fashion Toast. The girls are wearing key AW12 looks from Miss Shop's current range - Prim & Perverse, Sixties Pop and Luxe Grunge.

Betts and Me

I am happy to announce that I will be the next blogger to take part in the Betts 5 Ways To Wear project! I get to choose a shoe and pair it with five different outfits to be posted on the Betts blog - aka. Michelle of Michelle's Style File.

My shoe of choice is Capricorn in Rust.

I was up late last night planning outfits for the project, so stay tuned to see what I come up with!

On another note, our Marion store has re-opened and it is goooooood! It's the first Betts for Her concept store in SA (there are others in Vic, NSW and QLD). Who know we had enough women's shoes to fill a whole store!? The store is completely different to how it used to look, most customers tell us it looks like an American store. We have nice new flooring, bright displays, a catwalk/cash desk in the centre of the store and a lovely, ever-changing TV display. Come in and say hi!

20 Best Shoes from NYFW

I just had to blog this fantastic slideshow of the 20 best shoes from NYFW courtesy of Fashion Etc and the girls at Go Fug Yourself.

As a girl who sells shoes for a living, I get a lot of enjoyment from seeing new and inspiring trends emerge in the world of fashion footwear. Rodarte's debut collection of footwear encapsulates everything I love about the brand, their mixing of textures and patterns, as well as their ability to layer and juxtapose with outstanding results.

I'm loving the use of metallic materials or features to tie in with the 70s (disco and other) trend for A/W 2012, eg. Derek Lam, Prabal Gurung, Ralph Lauren and Thakoon.

Other standouts in the collection were Proenza Schouler's woven, almost tribal red and black structured chunky heels, Costella Tagliapietra's orange and taupe heels and SUNO's printed, lace-up bootie.

Lazy weekend

This weekend was a slow burn of heat, humidity, love and relaxation. Friday night after work, Pete and I headed out to see one of our favourite bands, La Dispute, play at Fowlers Live. We caught up with our good friend Steve, who we see no where near often enough and were entertained by the raw, emotive music of La Dispute.

Saturday I worked, then eased my aching back with a quick dip at Seacliff while we watched a couple get married on the beach. The wedding had about as many guests as we will have and so was inspiring to see how simple and lovely a beach wedding can be. At night we stayed in, watched movies on TV and cuddled on the couch.

Today we had a nice, slow start to the day with pancakes and coffee. We headed to town for The Eclective, a non-traditional wedding expo which I'll review shortly over at my new, wedding-oriented blog, Wild Ocean, Calm Sea.

During the week I also received an adorable Valentine's Day card from my dear friend, Emma, who is currently living in England. I love receiving letters in the mail and was so happy to hear from her.

La Dispute gig outfit: jeans from Savers, cameo singlet from General Pants, shoes by Airflex (Betts). Note the lack of pink hair :(

Adorable card sent by Emma.

Delicious Sunday breakfast.

Evil Twin Summer Lookbook

Aussie label Evil Twin (the twisted sister of Mink Pink) have released the lookbook for their first Summer collection, Black Magic Woman, and it is an absolute winner. According to the Evil Twin blog, the release is a bit late and we can expect their second summer range next week! How lucky!

The collection, if you couldn't already tell from the title, is a continuation of the themes we saw in their A/W collections and full of 70s nostalgia with a nod to rock-and-roll and tribal mysticism. While the cuts and silhouettes featured in this first collection are not ground-breaking, they boost the retro trend finally making its way to our shores. The collection is versatile and very wearable, highlighting one of the main reasons this brand continues to be a favourite of mine.
