Yesterday I spent the day catching up on work, had lunch with Dad and visited a fantastic, labyrinthine bookstore in Blackwood (and only bought one book!). Dad and I also accidentally wore navy bomber jackets, so we were quite the coordinated father and daughter duo.
New shoes courtesy of Betts. I'm loving the chunky sandals this season for day and night wear. I'm wearing 'Blaze' ($89.99), which comes in black and white.
Outfit: Denim Jacket - op shop | Bomber jacket - Ladakh (from 10 years ago!) | Sleeveless top - Supre | Pants - Temt
I could not be more in love with the Theysken's Theory S/S 2012 collection. Shiny pants - check. Feminine military styling - check. Boots - check. Belts - check. Pumps with ankle straps.....we could do this all day.
There's something so satisfying about receiving packages in the mail. My books arrived from Book Depository earlier than expected, which was a nice surprise. I ordered Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis and Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five and Breakfast of Champions. I've started reading Breakfast of Champions which is absolutely brilliant once you get used to the offbeat writing style and format.
My grandparents dropped into work today to give Pete and I our engagement present. My Nanna is a absolute pro on the sewing machine, always making outfits for Poppa and herself and embellishing everyday items. We recieved some super cute embroidered tea towels and bath towels, as well as a beautiful dress for myself which does not fit properly, but of course Nanna can fix that.
As you know I've been thinking about bleaching my hair in a balayage/ombre style, so I got bored one night and just went for it. The result is three (yes, three) attempts at bleaching just to get to this orangey/yellow stage. I think I'll give my hair a rest for a bit before making it lighter. I'm still not sure about it (it looks terrible when my hair isn't styled) but I've received plenty of compliments so I'll keep it for a bit until next time I get bored and attack my hair.
I also went shopping the other day (surprise, surprise) and picked up a great sleeveless denim shirt from Jay Jays for only $20.
Last Friday night we had another clothes swap, which consists of devouring many homemade treats, drinking wine, gossiping and attaining free clothes. I scored this cute skirt which is old school Sportsgirl as well as a few pairs of shorts and some black tops.
With new season stock arriving each week at work, I've had to update my shoe wardrobe and chose the Manhattan boot, which also comes in mushroom and retails for $89.99.
We have so many amazing shoes yet to arrive in store and I cannot wait to show them off. You can get a sneak peek at some of the styles by watching the Behind the Scenes video for the Betts SS11/12 campaign shoot:
And last but not least, I also bought some new back wedges from Big W for about $34.95. I know I should be buying all my shoes from Betts but I can't pass up a bargain and these babies fit me better than the styles I like at work. Behold:
Sorry, further delays in the taking of pictures. Since I resent this gloomy season I will continue to post pics of what I hope my Summer will look like...
I seriously can't get enough of Aztec prints.
Erin Wasson is too pretty. Love her look in this shoot for French Vogue.
So I'm anticipating my look for S/S 2011/12 will be a mix of Aztec/Mexicana/Texas Western/70s. Lots of prints, double denim, silver and turquise jewelery and boots. Can't wait!
I'm excited for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2011/2012 trends. I know we've only just hit Winter here, but I'm over it already. Winter trends: Mililtary, Highland Escape, Desert, Anything 70s related. Done.
SS 2011/12 will be: printed sandals and wedges, stars (not galaxy, think 70s/Texas/Glam), crochet, varsity jackets (already in season at K Mart, MCL, etc). Keen. I love the 70s look; midi skirts for Spring and crochet dresses for Summer. Varsity jackets and star-print Converse hi-tops. Sequins and stars with cowgirl boots.
