You've come a long way, baby.

OMG, my sincerest apologies for going a month without an update. Such behaviour is criminal in the blogging world, but often full time work, study and wedding planning gets the best of me.

Mostly I try and ignore the fact that it's getting quite cold and try to cast my mind forward to a time where Summer exists.

Here's some inspiration in no particular order:

New things

There's something so satisfying about receiving packages in the mail. My books arrived from Book Depository earlier than expected, which was a nice surprise. I ordered Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis and Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five and Breakfast of Champions. I've started reading Breakfast of Champions which is absolutely brilliant once you get used to the offbeat writing style and format.

My grandparents dropped into work today to give Pete and I our engagement present. My Nanna is a absolute pro on the sewing machine, always making outfits for Poppa and herself and embellishing everyday items. We recieved some super cute embroidered tea towels and bath towels, as well as a beautiful dress for myself which does not fit properly, but of course Nanna can fix that.

As you know I've been thinking about bleaching my hair in a balayage/ombre style, so I got bored one night and just went for it. The result is three (yes, three) attempts at bleaching just to get to this orangey/yellow stage. I think I'll give my hair a rest for a bit before making it lighter. I'm still not sure about it (it looks terrible when my hair isn't styled) but I've received plenty of compliments so I'll keep it for a bit until next time I get bored and attack my hair.

I also went shopping the other day (surprise, surprise) and picked up a great sleeveless denim shirt from Jay Jays for only $20.

Last Friday night we had another clothes swap, which consists of devouring many homemade treats, drinking wine, gossiping and attaining free clothes. I scored this cute skirt which is old school Sportsgirl as well as a few pairs of shorts and some black tops.

With new season stock arriving each week at work, I've had to update my shoe wardrobe and chose the Manhattan boot, which also comes in mushroom and retails for $89.99.

We have so many amazing shoes yet to arrive in store and I cannot wait to show them off. You can get a sneak peek at some of the styles by watching the Behind the Scenes video for the Betts SS11/12 campaign shoot:

And last but not least, I also bought some new back wedges from Big W for about $34.95. I know I should be buying all my shoes from Betts but I can't pass up a bargain and these babies fit me better than the styles I like at work. Behold:

2011 op-shop finds: Tops

I bought these items yesterday from Save The Children (shirt) and Salvos on Broadway (bag + necklace). The bag is the exact same as one my sister owns but hers is cream coloured and cost a lost more than the $2 I paid. The necklace is some dorky 90s sun on a natural fibre chain which is perfect because I am obsessed with all things 90s at the moment.

I wore the shirt last night  - it looks far better on than off.

This shirt I picked up from St. Vincent De Paul on Semaphore Road for about $4. I adore the colours and this shirt looks great with high-waited jeans/skirt/shorts - basically anything denim.

This jumper kind of rules my life right now. Again, totally 90s, I've been wearing it with high-waited shorts and boots or my very-worn black jeans and boots or sandals. I always team this with my silver coin necklace or makeshift dream-catcher necklace. Naturally wavy hair and dark red lipstick complete the look.

This one was hard to photograph. Basically it's a sand coloured silk shirt which hangs wonderfully, shows a bit of midriff and looks great with black jeans and boots/sandals. Found it at Salvos on Broadway for $4. Again worn with dream-catcher necklace and leather bracelets.

Another hard to photograph top as it hangs weirdly on the coat hanger. It's a thick woven singlet I picked up at Anglicare on Hindley/King William for $15.
