Sunny days

Sunny days

Sunny days by southernstrut featuring an empire maxi dress

My latest set from Polyvore is designed to compliment newest arrivals in our Betts store for SS11/12. Wedges are back in a big way and work well with lots of different styles. I'd team the following shoes with printed maxi dresses, denim shorts and flirty tops, denim playsuits and anything with a hint of vintage (50s-70s).

Acapulco - $89.99 (also available in nude)

Cabana - $79.99

Lotus - $89.99

Dixie - $79.99 (also available in black)

Topshop in Oz

UK fast fashion brand Topshop are coming to Australia, with plans to open two standalone stores in Sydney and Melbourne in 2012.

Previously, Topshop were stocked as a brand only in Incu stores in Sydney and Melbourne but now are looking at locations to put the stores in indirect competition with the recently opened Zara stores.

News about Topshop's Australian expansion at Fashionising, incidcate the most likely location for the Melbourne store to be in the Jam Factory complex on Chapel Street. Fashionising reports that Topshop could take over the 2,800 square metres of retail space previously used by Borders before their bankruptcy and closure.

From Fashionising: "While it would be impossible for the whole property to be dedicated to floor and shelf space, at 2,800 square metres the single storey Topshop store would be larger than Zara’s Melbourne store, which totals to 1,700 square metres spread across three levels.

With Australians already the third largest consumers of Topshops goods via their online store, Topshop’s opening in the country is a move certain to cement their position in the market."

It is not yet confirmed whether Topshop will feature collections by Australian designers they way their UK stores have with collections by Kate Moss and style selections by Katie Shillingford, Editor of Dazed & Confused magazine. Margy Osmond, CEO of the Australian National Retailers Association spoke on Kerri-Anne this morning, saying in international locations Topshop have not yet invited local designers to collaborate, but that trend could always change.

"It's not been their model in the past, but there's no reason why it couldn't necessarily happen," Ms Osmond said.

Inspiration

I love the mix of prints and trends. Who knew tribal, galaxy, leopard print and denim could work so well together?

I love a floral bathing suit. The retro halter and high-waited style is always a winner.

Unexpected pairings are so great, because how many people would think to wear a boho-chic dress with old man socks and garters?

Black lipstick looks fantastic on some. On me, I say it would look terrible. I'm also thinking I should make myself a cut-out skull singlet like this.

There's nothing I love more than a messy up-do. Gorgeous.

I've got mail!

I've been inspired by so many pictures on my Tumblr dashboard and on other blogs I follow, to put coloured highlights in my hair. I even went as far as to buy bleach and oxydising emulsion but have yet to build up the courage to lighten my hair. I feel this is something I should probably leave to the experts, especially if I want a full balayage job, a la Rachel Bilson.

So, in the meantime, I purchased a set of five clip-in coloured hair extensions on eBay for $5 (free postage - am I not the queen of bargains?). I'll have to trim them to match the length of my hair, but I can't wait to test these bad boys out.

Burgundy, magenta, lavender, bubblegum pink and electric blue.

You should check out My Little Pony Hair for great ideas and inspiration in hair colouring.

Let's chat. What's the craziest colour you've ever dyed your hair? Any tips on getting the best balayage dye job?

David Jones SS 2011 Fashion Launch

Last night's David Jones SS 2011 Fashion Launch gave us a taste of what's to come from designers such as Ksubi, Zimmermann, Lisa Ho and Collette Dinnigan. Miranda Kerr made her triumphant return to the catwalk, looking amazing in Jets swimwear and gowns by Alex Perry. Also, Samatha Harris seems to be making a big impact on the Aussie fashion scene and I'm interested to see which high-profile gig she will land next. David Jones have posted a video of the Black Carpet arrivals and a brief look at what to expect in stores this season.

Bambi x Tony Bianco

And my love for shoes continues...
Tony Bianco's Summer 2012 campaign featuring Aussie model, Bambi Norwood-Blyth, is a knockout. I love the simplicty of this shoot; the understated backdrop and outfits allow the striking colours and shapes of Bianco's latest collection to capture your attention. And if someone with legs like Bambi can't sell shoes, I don't know who can.

Bambi is also the current guest blogger at Tony Bianco.com.au and shares her adventures in modelling, shopping, travel and personal photos. It's a fun and intersting read and you can check it out here.

Spring Transition

At work we're getting new stock in daily, and particularly some great basic pieces for Spring/Summer that would suit any outfit. In addition to this we're marking down a lot of Autumn/Winter stuff that can still be worn into the warmer months. I created a lookbook to show how you can mix and match basic pieces to keep up with the changing seasons.

Spring Transition

As I work for Betts, it would be remiss of me not to recommend pairing the above pieces with the Poppie wedge (available in black/mushroom and currently on sale for $62.99) or the new Lynx wedge (a personal favourite, available in black/nude and $89.99). Both shoe styles look great on their own or paired with over the knee or frill socks.
