The Eclective

Today my mum and I went to a unique bridal fair in Adelaide showcasing local venues, caterers and services without the stressed out, stuffy vibe of a typical bridal fair. The Eclective is "a curated showcase of wedding artisans intent on inspiring and enlightening couples to explore the options of personal expression within their wedding". The team behind The Eclective; Alia, Scott and Kristy, have created a truly inspiring and relaxed atmosphere demonstarting the best local photographers, designers and small business owners in a fun, open space. It was exactly what I was looking for, as a bride with no plans, no date and a head that needs to be filled with ideas. We sampled delicious macaroons, almond and tea brittle, salty caramel powder, the best beer in the state (McLaren Vale Beer Company) while I eyed off a few vintage dresses that just happened to be my size. I still feel apprehensive about commencing the massive task of organising (and paying) for our wedding, but now I know there are so many locals with the right tools for the job so I can create the kind of day that will be relaxed, enjoyable and reflect our personalities.

Inside the old Queens Theatre, a great venue for the event with rustic charm.

Such a beautiful old building to suit the quirkyness and idividuality of the artisans showcasing their services.

Amazing idea - hanging flowers in bottles.

The Australian Catwalk

Last night I attended The Australian Catwalk, a Red Carpet Fridays event hosted by Hotel Richmond. The show featured swimwear, ready-to-wear, high summer, couture and bridal from Australian designer collections previously shown at Rosemount Fashion Week. I had such a fun evening with my lovely ladies, Jacquie, Jemma and Sarah, drinking vodka and photographing fashionable people.

The show featured collections by Alex Perry, Gorman, Alannah Hill and Emanuele Bridal and many more. I'm really looking forward to Spring/Summer with this colour blocking trend and re-emergence of the chunky heel/wedge. Hotel Richmond host fashion parades one Friday per month, so I look forward to attending many more.

Wedding pics

Last weekend my Mum married Dave, her partner of six years, in a small ceremony with close friends and family. It was a cold day, but a beautiful wedding with the reception held on site. My Mum looked so beautiful in her fuchsia dress and pale pink feather bolero, and Dave looked great in his classic suit and monochromatic neck tie. At the reception we stood by the fire with champagne and delicious hors d'oeuvres.

I wore a navy velvet halter neck dress with a big slit up the back which let a lot of cold air in, but also only cost me $15 from Salvos, so no complaints there. I went for an art deco look by teaming it with a beige woolen coat (vintage, $12), peep-toe wedges (from Target about four years ago) and a black velvet turband (I hate that name) from Sportsgirl. I also added a vintage marquisette brooch to the turband, a black glo-mesh handbag and kept my jewelery simple.

Pete looking dapper and I, trying to keep warm.

The happy couple.
