Coming soon...

I've been shopping (op- and regular) and so have new goodies to show off. Also (as mentioned previously) my new shoes arrived in the mail, so I'll be pairing them with fantastic outfits and publishing the results ASAP. Stay tuned, friends.

Salad days

I'm so happy with my life right now I can't seem to stop taking pictures. Even though the days are cold, Peter and I still try and get out, go for a walk or take turns riding his new bike. I feel so incredibly lucky to live in a gorgeous suburb in a gorgeous country with a gorgeous boy.

Quick update

Guess what finally arrived in the mail?! My Frankie magazine and my imitation Jeffrey Campbell platform sandals. Yay! Will post a pic of me wearing them soon, but as I am about to go to work this will suffice for now.

Evil Twin

Loving the latest collection by Evil Twin. It's label that can do no wrong. The Broken Are The Beautiful is full of velvet, cosmic prints and kimono style dresses and tops teamed with thigh-high stockings and creepers. It's like walking into a new age store and buying all the good items, dying them black and cutting holes in them. I love the deep reds and violet blues teamed with lots of black and simple silver jewelery. Check it out here.

Versace for H&M

I was excited to read last night that Versace are teaming up with H&M to release a collection of menswear, womenswear and accessories. Now would be the right time for H&M to build their (rumoured) store in Burnside so I can buy all the wonderful pieces Donatella Versace has planned. I love her quote from this video:
"Of course there's going to be prints. And of course there's going to be leather. And of course there's going to be studs."

And more on the collaboration from Donatella Versace and H&M Creative Advisor Margareta Van Den Bosch with a sneak peek at one of the dresses to be released.

Inspiration and such

Would love to look like this all Summer.

Just like Lenni Vintage.

So much DIY potential...

And again, perfect for DIY.

I will always love retro styling. Perfect.

Two things are amazing here: 1. Her outfit. 2. She's been shopping at Primark.

Love the splash of neon with a feminine/grunge look.

Love this look.

I wish more men would put effort into their outfits, like this.

eBay update

When I can't shop at Marion (because you can't work and shop at the same time, unfortunately) I come home and shop online. It's a terrible and costly habit but I simply love owning things. Hence, my latest eBay situation:

Currently bidding on and hoping not to lose to last-minute poachers (cowards, all of you!):

Super cute vintage romper, currently $6.50.

I lost these shoes at the last minute (they would have cost me $10 + $7 postage:

So I took revenge by spending slightly more money and buying these outright ($29.99 + $11.00 postage):

Still waiting for my clogs in the mail, but they are coming from China so I am trying my best to be patient.

Wedding pics

Last weekend my Mum married Dave, her partner of six years, in a small ceremony with close friends and family. It was a cold day, but a beautiful wedding with the reception held on site. My Mum looked so beautiful in her fuchsia dress and pale pink feather bolero, and Dave looked great in his classic suit and monochromatic neck tie. At the reception we stood by the fire with champagne and delicious hors d'oeuvres.

I wore a navy velvet halter neck dress with a big slit up the back which let a lot of cold air in, but also only cost me $15 from Salvos, so no complaints there. I went for an art deco look by teaming it with a beige woolen coat (vintage, $12), peep-toe wedges (from Target about four years ago) and a black velvet turband (I hate that name) from Sportsgirl. I also added a vintage marquisette brooch to the turband, a black glo-mesh handbag and kept my jewelery simple.

Pete looking dapper and I, trying to keep warm.

The happy couple.

With my Mum and sisters.

Beauty

Just a few tidbits today, I thought I focus a bit more on beauty because beauty and fashion go hand-in-hand. First off, I love this photo of Blake Lively. She always looks pretty but on this occasion here hair is a stand-out feature. I love the messy side-pony with fishtail plaits. I tried doing fishtail plaits on myself and it will take a lot of practice (and longer hair) to perfect.

Also, if you're keen to give it a try, I found this girl's video is the most helpful:

Next, we all know Emma Watson is stunning, possibly even more so with her shorter locks. So I thought I'd post this pic of her on the cover of Vogue. I love the look of a stained lip, it's a dramatic look which suits winter and current trends so well.

Lastly, a bit of  product promotion. I usually don't like to acknowledge my bad skin but I had to mention this. Since I started using Neutrogena Acne Stress Control cleanser my skin has been amazingly clear. I've always had imperfect skin and it got worse after high school (much to my dismay) and also especially while I was using Implanon. Now I've switched to the Pill, which has improved my skin somewhat, but I believe the Neutrogena is doing all the work. It's a creamy cleanser with a bit of menthol in it, so is wonderfully refreshing. Because my face is being kept clear of pimples, my skin has time to relax and heal many years worth of acne scarring and blemishes. Neutrogena aren't paying my to say this, but seriously, go buy this cleanser.

Looking forward

I'm excited for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2011/2012 trends. I know we've only just hit Winter here, but I'm over it already. Winter trends: Mililtary, Highland Escape, Desert, Anything 70s related. Done.

SS 2011/12  will be: printed sandals and wedges, stars (not galaxy, think 70s/Texas/Glam), crochet, varsity jackets (already in season at K Mart, MCL, etc). Keen. I love the 70s look; midi skirts for Spring and crochet dresses for Summer. Varsity jackets and star-print Converse hi-tops. Sequins and stars with cowgirl boots.

From a Mambo catalogue (about 2003...? It's quite old, nonetheless).

Photo a go go: take two

My apologies for the delay in uploading photos, I started a new job and caught someone's cold, so am currently sitting in my daggiest clothes with a box of tissues and some Strepsils on hand. But I have been busy and am now ready to post the pics. Ta da!

In the meantime...

Just bought these babies off eBay for $40 (free postage). I got them in black but a less sensible version of me would have bought the gold.
Seems everyone is doing Jeffrey Campbell rip-offs at the moment, which is great because I can't afford the real ones. Rubi are selling Lita knock-offs which (devestatingly) did not fit me, so when in doubt, I turn to eBay. And, voila!
