Holiday play time

The other week I went to my aunty's house to help her sort through all her excess kitchenware, linen and ornaments. We ended up creating two boxes worth of stuff to be sold on eBay and I managed to score a few things for myself, including a plain white tea cup and saucer set. Inspired by images I've seen on Tumblr, I decided to buy a porcelain marker and decorate the set. The outcome is not as fantastic as I expected (now I know to use a finer tip pen) but I'm still happy with it and it was a lot of fun.

The marker was really easy to use - you just draw on the porcelain, leave to dry for 24 hours then bake in the oven at 150 celsius for 35 minutes. I plan to trawl op shops for more plain items (or items with simple designs I can add to) and make more decorated pieces for gifts or maybe to sell.

What do you think?

  1. awesome idea dude!! that's something I've always wanted to get on board with - revamping old kitchenware and selling it online - but never really had the artistic ability to carry out!

I wish you the best of luck - DO IT!
